The seascape is a place of power and calm. But not when you know that beyond the horizon, Russian warships are targeting their cannons at you. With war, the things you love turn into something that worries you. Disturbance of the sea continues within me: I am getting anxious.
Sometimes the unseen is scarier than what’s in front of your eyes. The search for potential danger is intrusive: is it there or not, is it there or not, is it there or not? This mental loop can never assure you of either presence or absence of threat. So in an attempt to stop the doubt and outrun fear, I try to see it. Аnd it seems like I do.
To cope with the mental ups and downs, I use physical ones: I move my stomach and diaphragm rhythmically and without haste. To calm myself down, I breathe in my hands, put together in the shape of a boat. The symbolic metaphor is properly felt by my body. My breath merges into the whisper of the waves, and for a moment it seems to give the sounds of the sea their original calming meaning.

Морський пейзаж — місце сили та спокою. Але не тоді, коли знаєш: по той бік горизонту на тебе націлені російські воєнні кораблі. Так з війною те, що ти любиш, перетворюється на те, що тебе непокоїть. Морська хвиля продовжується всередині мене: я хвилююся.
Часом небачене страшніше, аніж те, що перед очима. Пошук ймовірної небезпеки нав’язливий: є чи нема, є чи нема, є чи нема? І роздуми по колу не здатні запевнити
— ані в відсутності, ані в присутності загрози. Тож у спробі спинити сумнів й випередити страх, я намагаюся її побачити. І, здається, що бачу.
Аби впоратися з ментальними коливаннями, вдаюся до тілесних
—
ритмічно й неспішно рухаю живіт і діафрагму. На заспокоєння дихаю в долоні, складені човником. Символічна метафора добре відчутна тілом. Моє дихання зливається з шумом хвиль, на мить немов повертаючи звукам моря їх початкове, заспокійливе значення.
